How can a hosted PBX use VoIP equipment to replace or work with your current phone system?
Use VoIP phones.
VoIP equipment eliminates having a telephone line with your local phone carrier. Choose from several state-of-the-art, multi-line digital office phones, like ones from Polycom or Grandstream, that plug directly into your Internet connection. You may also be able to use softphones, which are computer programs that simulate a typical business phone on your desktop.
Use mobile phones.
Many employees are out of the office frequently and would prefer to receive calls on their cell phones. Calls from the hosted PBX can be forwarded to employees’ cell phones. There are also several softphone apps for iOS and Android to turn your smartphone into a desk phone.
Keep your existing landline.
You can keep your existing phone lines and have calls forwarded to them from the hosted PBX service. This option, however, generally increases the cost of your phone services because you’re paying for the hosted PBX service and the traditional phone lines.
